The big reveal
Week – 6 Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge
Disclosure: I have been compensated with tile selections from Jeffrey Court – HD and paint from Clarepaint for this renovation. All opinions are my own.
Ya’ll (yes I am from the south), can you believe we are at the final week and it is time for the big reveal?
Six long, exhausting and sometimes challenging weeks of working on this shower build and renovation.
Participating in the Jeffrey Court Renovation challenge has been an amazing experience that has sparked our love for DIY projects once again.
To say I am excited that it is reveal week and we can share our master bathroom shower renovation, is an understatement.
Before the reveal, I have to take a minute to remind you where it all began.
Where it all began
The before was not bad, it was just a builder grade shower/toilet closet, that had to be cut out due to a crack in the floor.
It was dark due to choosing too dark of a color for a space that gets no natural light and is only 59 by 73.
Being such a small space, we wanted to be sure we chose something that would lighten up the space while creating a classic look.
Choosing tile to create a classic look ensured it would withstand trends and would last for many years.
Here is a reminder of our original design board.
Design board
Choosing the Jeffrey Court -HD Dove Praire marble mosaic for the walls, Jetstream marble stone mosaic for the floor and carrara marble dome trim tiles achieved the classic look we desired.
Challenges along the way
Working on our project for 6 weeks came with some challenges, yet we were mostly able to stick with our original plan and complete the renovation in the 6 week time frame. (See week 5)
One of the big challenges we faced was exhaustion, with no family in town to help with our youngest son we often worked in shifts to be able to finish on time.
Working late into the evening and every weekend with exception of one weekend while I was out of town, was tough.
Second challenge was the broken drain pipe. We hired someone to switch that out, you can see that here week3.
Another challenge we faced was lack of availability of certain products in our area.
New Light
On our original mood board you see we had chosen a brushed nickel clear class ceiling light. Unfortunately it just was not right for the space so we went in another direction, choosing one of contrast to the brushed nickel.
I love that the new light we chose does not stand out and compete with our shower, which is the main focus in the space.
We were able to meet all of our challenges head on and continue without any major delays.
Doing any type of renovation you just can’t foresee what you may run into.
We were lucky that we did not have any big issues or problems with our renovation.
Large DIY projects such as this shower renovation are not for the faint of heart. I think had we not had the specific time frame to complete this renovation, we may still be working on it.
This renovation turned out so much better than we ever imagined, we are so proud of what we accomplished in this once dark and drab space.
I know, your ready to see it and I am ready to share.
Revealing the completed renovation
This space is much brighter after installing the tile, solid glass shower doors and painting the walls with a better suited color.
For the paint we chose a gray beige from Clare Paint called, “Beigeing”. This was the perfect shade to bring cohesion between the old ceramic tile floors and the new marble shower.
Neither of these pictures really show the space well so I made a video in order for you to see it more clearly.
You can see from the video the clean, classic lines and color scheme for this classic shower renovation.
We met our goal and accomplished our dream shower during this renovation and are forever grateful to have been part of this challenge.
Be sure to go to the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge website and cast your last vote for our shower renovation. We appreciate all your love and support through out this challenge.
Regardless of who wins the dream vacation, we feel that we are already winners with our beautiful shower.
Thank you to Jeffrey Court for supplying the marble tile and for allowing us to participate in the 6 week renovation challenge.
Now I think it is going to be a toss up to see who gets to use it first.
Till next time
Xoxo
