Week 1 The Before – with Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge
Welcome to week one of the Jeffrey Court Renovation challenge, a six week challenge to renovate a room.
Come on in and see what space we are renovating.
Renovation space:
For this renovation challenge we are renovating our master bathroom shower/toilet room.
This part of the bathroom is connected to a much larger section that holds a large closet, double sink and large jetted tub.
Let me begin by letting you know that we built our home 15 years ago, so our home is fairly new.
Though we had grown tired of our beige tile , we were not planning on renovating any time soon.
We had considered painting the tile on the floors for a quick, budget friendly refresh. Somewhat like the inexpensive guest bathroom refresh I did recently.
Until recently when we discovered that our shower surround had a crack in the floor.
My husband put silicone on it as a temporary fix, until we figured out a plan.
Knowing that the shower would have to be cut out and replaced with tile we began considering our options as well as our budget.
We were not sure what the plan was until I received an email from Jeffrey Court asking if I would like to apply to participate in their Renovation Challenge.
Of course I applied.
Within a few days I found out I was accepted to participate. I was ecstatic and quite frankly, nervous.
Then I had to tell my husband the good news and be sure he was on board with us doing the challenge together.
He was good with the challenge but the children are a little apprehensive.
My children are a little freaked out about only having one shower for all five of us, but we will make it work for the next six weeks.
It has been more than 15 years since my husband and I tackled a big project, but we are ready for the challenge.
Timing of this challenge could not be more perfect, as the shower floor is getting weaker and weaker around the drain. It is only a matter of time before the crack grows and we have a leak.
So it is time to begin the demo of this small shower/toilet room.
Our plan for the space:
- tile shower floor and walls to the ceiling
- replace drain
- replace shower head and control handle
- shower doors
- ceiling light fixture
- paint the walls
- new bathroom wall decor or shelving
The demo and renovation has to be completed within the six week time frame. We hope to not have any big issues, but you never know.
We are really excited for you to follow along on this renovation journey.
Over the next 5 weeks we will be sharing progress, mishaps and possibly bloopers along the way.
Come back next week when we share the demo of this space.
Be sure to go to Jeffrey Court see the other amazing designers in the renovation challenge.
Let the fun begin…
Till next time
xoxo
