Hello and welcome. My name is Sonya, the face behind the blog. I have been living in the South for my entire life and for the last 17 years at the NC coast.

I am a teacher by day and a home decor, homemaker and do it yourself enthusiast on the side. Some of my favorite things to do are thrifting, decorating and gardening. I have expensive taste but a small budget but that does not stop me. I love finding vintage treasures and finding new ways to use them in my home.

Some of my favorite things are coffee with french vanilla creamer, the sound of waves crashing, french bistro music, candles and Trader Joe’s flowers.

I love sharing ideas for simple projects, fun and easy recipes and inspiration for a simple, budget friendly and beautiful home. My goal is to inspire you on your homemaking journey.

Reading your comments and answering your questions brings me so much joy, so be sure to do both. Make sure you subscribe to the blog so you will always be updated with current post.

Thanks for stopping by.
Sonya

Why I thrift for these things instead of buying ne Why I thrift for these things instead of buying new. It’s not about finding perfect pieces, it’s about how they feel, real wood, soft textures, pieces that aren’t all the same. It just creates a different kind of home when mixed with new pieces.

Save this for your next thrift trip.

what actually made my home feel better... wasn’t what actually made my home feel better... wasn’t what I expected.
It wasn’t buying more or changing everything it was small shifts,
less clutter softer light slower changes and using what I already had. Simple, but it changed everything.

save this for later when your home feels a little off.

This is why I thrift instead of buying new most of This is why I thrift instead of buying new most of the time.

Not because it’s perfect, not because it’s always easy.
Because it feels more like home. Pieces that are a little worn a little different, a little more lived in.
I think that’s what I’ve been drawn to all along.

I did not love my home. There were too many things I did not love my home.
There were too many things I wouldn’t have chosen. Too many details that didn’t feel like me.
And for a while, that’s all I could see. But slowly, I stopped focusing on what I didn’t like and started working with what I had. Softening it. Layering it. Living in it. And now...
it feels completely different.

I used to think I needed to change everything to m I used to think I needed to change everything to make my home feel calmer, better. But honestly...
these small shifts changed more than any big makeover ever did.
Simple. Slow. Realistic.

Saving this for later helps on the days your home feels a little overwhelming.

This is what my home really looks like most days. This is what my home really looks like most days.
Not perfectly styled.
Not always clean.
Not finished.
There are random things on the kitchen table. A sweater hanging over the chair and couch.
Little things out of place from just living life here. And for a long time I thought that meant I was doing it wrong. Like my home should look better than this. But lately, I see it differently. It’s not supposed to look perfect all the time. It’s supposed to be lived in, used and a little undone. Because that’s what makes it feel real.
And somehow, that feels better than perfect ever did.

It’s funny... I keep seeing pieces in my home sh It’s funny... I keep seeing pieces in my home show up as
“trends” lately.
Things I’ve had for years.
Things I never really thought twice about. I didn’t choose them because they were popular. I chose them because I loved them... or they meant something to me... or they just felt right in my home. I have lived at the coast now for more than twenty years and my home has always had coastal or nautical touches and now those things are popular. Hold onto things long enough and you will want to use them again.
