How to create a simple Valentine’s Day tree
Are you looking for a simple way to decorate for Valentine’s Day?
This simple Valentine’s Day tree is perfect for the seasoned or beginning crafter.
Today I am joining a group of talented blogging friends in sharing some Valentine’s Day decor and food ideas today.
Thank you to Janet of A Life of Balance for putting this hop together, I am honored to be part of it.
If you are visiting from my sweet and talented friend Lynne at My Family Thyme, welcome. I just loved her reverse canvas Valentine’s Day art and sure you did as well.
I typically do not do much as far as decorating for Valentine’s Day but wanted to do a little something this year.
One day at the local Dollar Tree I came up with a quick and simple idea for a Valentine’s Day tree.
With a few supplies you can create your simple Valentine’s Day tree as well.
Supplies needed
With these few supplies you can create your hearts to hang on your simple Valentine’s Day tree.
1 -tree limb with multiple branches (found mine out on a walk)
2-wooden heart gift tags from the Dollar Tree (I used 8 for my tree)
3-white, pink or natural colored yarn (or any color you prefer)
4-tape
5-planter
6-white rocks (to hold the branch in place)
Once you have all your supplies you are ready to get started.
This is a quick and easy project, it will not take long to put this together after you prep your limb.
Prepping for your tree limb
I found my tree limb while I was walking my dog and pulled off what I did not need.
You could use a premade tree or another type of plant if you prefer that.
For the tree limb I pulled out one of my extra terracotta pots and placed the tree limb in then filled the pot with small white rocks from previous projects.
Once your tree limb is secure in the planter you can begin making your hearts.
Wrapping your yarn hearts
Prior to wrapping your hearts with yarn, secure the twine through the hole and tie a loop knot so that you can hang it from your branch.
These particular hearts came with the twine to tie them.
When you start wrapping your hearts with yarn, tape the end to the center of the heart to hold the yarn in place.
Once your yarn is securely in place you are ready to start wrapping.
You will start by wrapping the heart in the center and wrapping in several different directions as seen in the video below.
Continue to wrap the yarn around the heart until it is completely covered and appears puffy in the center.
Once you are satisfied with the coverage of each heart, tie it off in the back.
When they are all completed you are ready to hang them from the branches of your tree.
When Valentine’s Day is over you will be able to recycle the heart gift tags and yarn for future projects and gifts.
These floral bars make the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for someone special.
