Top 5 favorite french inspired picnic essentials
Spring and summer are the ideal times of year to have picnics at the beach or the park. Today I wanted to share my top 5 favorite french inspired picnic essentials
Heading outdoors and eating al fresco is one of our favorite things to do.
Creating small meals to bring on a picnic for a day at the beach or park are perfect for the spring and summer months.
Though creating a picnic is not hard, there are some essentials that are key in creating a stress free and carefree picnic.
These five french inspired picnic essential will help create a fun and simple picnic.
Start with picnic basics
When putting together a picnic for any season the first thing you need is a basket of some kind to carry your picnic in.
There are several different kinds of picnic baskets, but for ours we love using a french inspired market basket.
These are like the ones you see at Paris markets and they can carry so much.
Look for ones that have good sturdy handles and long handles with possible.
I have several listed in my Amazon storefront under French inspired picnic essential.
The one I use is from an old Grace Case from a couple of years ago and it works perfect.
These baskets can be used for picnics, a day at the beach and so much more.
Even if you do not have a market basket you can use what you have on hand for your french inspired picnic.
Picnic foundation piece
Once you have your market basket, you need to have a blanket of some sort to sit on during your picnic.
I have this cute buffalo plaid one from Target several years ago.
The one I use and the ones I have in my Amazon shop have handles so they can be carried outside of your market basket.
Your blanket can be used on the grass, sand or thrown over a table as a tablecloth for al fresco meals.
The blanket you choose to use is personal preference and depends on your style.
Now you have your foundation pieces, let’s talk about what is needed for your food.
Picnic food essential
After having your basics it is time to start thinking about the picnic food essentials used to eat.
You can use disposable utensils and I have included some eco friendly ones if that is the route you want to go.
Most of the time I just use what we already have as our everyday silverware.
If not, I have included some reusable bamboo utensils that have the perfect french flair for your al fresco dining.
Along with your silverware, you can use cloth napkins.
Again it depends on your style but I have included several different ones for every budget in my Amazon storefront for you to choose.
Both the bamboo silverware and the cloth napkins can be used in your home.
There are a couple picnic essentials left for you to create a simple alfresco meal.
Food storage essentials
When it comes to picnics or food storage in general, I do not like to use plastic for lots of reasons.
Using glass jars is an eco friendly way to store food and create a beautiful picnic presentation.
There are several types of jars that can be used, including ball jars.
I prefer to use french inspired weck jars.
They are a little more costly but their presentation is beautiful .
Weck jars come in many shapes and sizes, making them perfect for picnics.
Using these for many types of foods for your french inspired picnic is perfect.

Wood elements
The french love eating small meals of meat and cheeses so a small wood board is perfect for a french inspired picnic for two.
You just need a board small enough that will fit into your market basket.
I have a few small ones that I have found at local thrift stores but have included a couple in my storefront here.
