How to create unique fall styling with blue and orange
Looking for ways to create a unique fall style in your home this season? Today I am sharing how to create a unique fall styling with blue and orange.
It is that time of year where the weather is slowly changing and our minds are on all things fall.
Fall just happens to be my favorite season and I love styling my home for fall in simple ways.
I love when the weather begins to get crisp in the mornings and the colors outdoors begin to change.
Though I love all the colors of fall, I do not necessarily want to use those traditional fall colors in my home.
This year I thought I would do a little something different with non-traditional colors and share them with you.
Today I am joining 23 other very talented blogging friends for our annual Celebrate Fall home tour, where we are sharing all things fall.
I would like to thank Leen of Sand Dollar Lane for putting this together and inviting me to participate year after year.
If you came here from visiting Lindsay at Aratari At Home, welcome, I am so happy you are here and I am sure you were inspired by her beautiful dried leaf fall decor.
Celebrating fall home tour
I am sharing some non-traditional fall styling ideas for the home with blue and orange.
With just a few simple items and shopping your home, creating a unique style for your home this fall will be easy.
Before sharing what I did I wanted to encourage you to think outside the box when creating style for any season in your home.
It is not about running to the store and purchasing the latest trendy items, it is more about being creative in your styling and having a unique look that fits your home and lifestyle.
Last year I did something more traditional in my bedroom for fall, you can read that here.
But for now we are talking about a more non-traditional way of styling our homes for fall.
What is non-traditional fall styling
You may be wondering what is traditional fall styling.
When I say traditional, I am referring to the traditional colors of fall; red, orange, yellow and brown that are inspired by the colors of the changing leaves.
The trends have been to have a lot of pumpkins, faux leaves and faux pumpkins but I prefer to keep it simple with just a few key pieces.
This year I wanted to do something a little more non-traditional with color for my fall home styling to create a unique style.
A style that works for my home using things I already have but using them in new and different ways.
As you know I have a lot of blue pieces and wanted to keep things simple as usual , so I decided to add in some pops of orange for fall.
Blue and orange fall hutch
The first thing I did was look around my home for things that were orange.
Honestly I did not have a lot but I was able to pull out this amazing book, City Farmhouse Style.
It is the perfect addition to my blue and white styled china hutch.
Not only that, it goes perfectly with the blue book that has been on the shelf for quite some time.
Other than that I added a 99 cent mini orange gourd to the candle riser for another pop of color.
I already had the wheat wreath and added it to the outside of the china hutch.
That is really all the shelves needed to have the feel of fall.
The orange is a traditional fall color but the blue here is that non-traditional piece.
I love how the two play together to add a unique pop of color.
Two simple pieces grouped together that created a unique fall style in a non-traditional way.
From there I added a few more simple things to the coffee table.
Unique fall coffee table styling
I love nothing more than trying to come up with simple ways to style my home for the seasons.
Thinking outside the box and coming up with unique ways to style my home keeps me creative and on budget.
One fun thing I added to my coffee table was a thrifted hand painted blue plate.
On top I added a clear glass jar and some tiny faux pumpkins and a single tea light.
I like to keep my coffee table decor minimal and that is all the coffee table needed.
Nothing complicated or over done here just some simple household items added.
From the coffee table I styled my dining room table in a unique way.
Fall dining room table
When it came to styling my dining room table I really wanted to do something different.
I tried a few different things and finally landed on layering a few simple things I already had.
First I laid down a piece of drop cloth and added a $5 rug ordered from 5 Below.
Originally the rug was used at the end of my daughters twin bed to add some color but it works on the table.
It has the perfect muted orange color that the table needed.
From there I added some whicker charges with my everyday blue willow dishes.
Used food in a creative and unique way to add pops of blue and orange to the table.
I added blueberries, oranges and the cutest pumpkin cookies from the local grocery store.
Creating unique fall styling with blue and orange
Just shows, it really does not take a lot to create unique fall styling in your home.
With everyday items and a pop of orange I was able to create a unique fall style in my home.
Even if you use traditional colors in your home this fall you can create a unique style by using some non-traditional items.
There are many things that are not traditional fall decor, such as books, rugs, candleholders and food but you can use in unique ways.
Whatever you decide to use in your home this season, do what brings you joy in your home.
