Today I’m thinking about the people who lost the Today I’m thinking about the people who lost their lives, the families who lost loved ones and the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.
I’m also thinking about how fragile and precious ordinary life really is. The morning coffee in your new favorite mug from @kimtaylor.co a phone call with someone you love, coming home at the end of the day and gathering around the table.
The ordinary moments we sometimes take for granted are really the moments that make up our lives. Today, I remember, and I’m grateful for the gift of another ordinary day.

I’m decorating for fall a little differently the I’m decorating for fall a little differently these days.Less buying, less matching, less trying to make every room look like the season.
More using what I already have, adding a few cozy touches, and letting my home still feel like me while creating a collected home rather than a decorated home.

Save this for later and send it to a friend who loves fall but doesn’t want to fill their house with more stuff.

The older I get, the less interested I am in havin The older I get, the less interested I am in having it all figured out.
I’m approaching 60, and I’m realizing I don’t want a completely different life. I want more of the things that actually matter to me.
More time with family, more time at home, more creativity, more travel and little adventures. A home that feels like me, not a home that looks like everyone else’s.
And honestly, more permission to change my mind about what I thought this next chapter was supposed to look like. I used to think getting older meant having more answers, now I’m wondering if it might mean being more comfortable with the questions.
So that’s where I am, still figuring it out, still becoming, and a little less concerned with having it all together.

I’m not one for completely changing my home ever I’m not one for completely changing my home every time a new season comes around.
I like to let the seasons show up slowly. So today I am pulling out a few pieces I plan on adding this week for some simple fall touches. Stay tuned for some tips on how to create the cozy fall feel in your home this week.

We made it to the weekend and honestly after this We made it to the weekend and honestly after this week that is something to celebrate. Returning to work has left me more exhausted than I expected. By the end of the day, I’m ready to put my bag down, kick off my shoes, and just be home. So this weekend, I’m keeping things simple.
Coffee.
Home.
A little decorating.
Maybe some time outside.
And absolutely no pressure to accomplish everything.

I’m not going to pretend returning to the classr I’m not going to pretend returning to the classroom hasn’t exhausted me, it has. By the time I walk through the door at the end of the day, I’m tired in a way that’s hard to explain.
Tired from thinking.
Tired from talking.
Tired from making a hundred little decisions.
Tired from giving so much of myself all day. And then I come home I kick off my shoes, put my bag down, and take a breath.
The house isn’t perfect and there are things that need to be picked up. Dinner still needs to happen and tomorrow is already waiting,
but for the moment I’m home.
And lately I’ve realized how much that moment means me, and that this is my place to exhale. The things I’ve collected and loved over time somehow feel different at the end of a long day, they remind me that this is my space, my little place to land.
Maybe that’s one of the reasons I love creating a home so much. Not because I need it to be perfect...
but because at the end of a long day, I need somewhere that feels like home.

I know it’s still August, but I couldn’t resis I know it’s still August, but I couldn’t resist bringing out my favorite fall candle.
There is just something about lighting a candle that makes home feel a little cozier. The air is still running and beach days aren’t over. Summer is still very much here at the coast, but this little scent has me looking forward to slow evenings, cozy mornings, and all the little things that make home feel special in the fall. I’m not rushing the season, I’m just letting a little bit of fall find its way into my home. Sometimes that’s all it takes to make an ordinary day feel a little more special.
